Lost Ladies of Lit is a podcast hosted by writing partners @amy_helmes_fowler and @kimdaskew about “lost” classics by women writers. Our guests have included New. York Times book critic Sadie Stein, McNally Editions senior editor Lucy Scholes, Catbird’s Leigh Plessner, biographer Laura Thompson, author Hilma Wolitzer, publicist Lauren Cerand, and Academy Award-winning filmmaker and novelist Peter Davis.
About Amy & Kim
Kim Askew and Amy Helmes, co-hosts of the podcast Lost Ladies of Lit, have been writing partners for over a decade, and together they've written the story for the romantic comedy Her Pen Pal which premiered on the Hallmark Channel in June 2021. Their Twisted Lit series of novels, including Anyone But You, Exposure, and Tempestuous, are Shakespeare-inspired young adult fiction with a contemporary twist, published by Simon & Schuster (formerly Adams Media/Merit Press).
Amy is the author of several books, including The Wisdom of Nancy Drew and Betty and Veronica: A Girl's Guide to the 'Comic' World of Dating. Her essay “Searching for Mr. Darcy” was featured in the Los Angeles Times.
Kim has written for various publications, ranging from the Wall Street Journal and Elle Magazine to Fiction Southeast and the anthology The May Queen, and held residency at Wellstone Center in the Redwoods. She wrote her Master's thesis, on Henry James, at Mount St. Mary's University, Los Angeles, and teaches writing at UCLA Extension’s Writers’ Program and Stanford Continuing Studies.
