Heiress to the Singer sewing machine fortune, Fellowes was the Paris editor of the American Harper’s Bazaar and muse to the likes of Coco Chanel, Elsa Schiaparelli, and Salvador Dali. Karl Lagerfeld reportedly once called her “the chicest woman I ever laid eyes on.”
